Gary Stuer, DVM, CVA, CVCHM

DVM, Certification-Veterinary Acupuncture, Certification-Veterinary Chinese Herbal Medicine

Dr. Stuer practices integrative medicine and acupuncture. Dr. Stuer is originally from Lowell, Massachusetts and now lives in Maine. He completed his undergraduate degree at the University of New Hampshire, and received his veterinary degree from Tufts University. He achieved his Certification in Veterinary Acupuncture, and his Certification in Veterinary Chinese Herbal Medicine through the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society (IVAS). Dr. Stuer knew from a very early age—around 9 years old, that he wanted to become a veterinarian. He was influenced early on in his life by a family cat that was hit by a car who completely recovered with extensive medical care. He also spent a lot of time around horses when he was growing up. Dr. Stuer is inspired to offer patients and their people integrative care, combining Western medicine with Eastern influences, where each animal is treated as an individual. His medicine constantly evolves as he learns more from his patients every day. He loves what he does and he is honored to be a caregiver for his clients’ treasured animals. His wife Anne is trained in biochemistry and has a strong interest in nutrition. She volunteers many hours teaching people how to cook wholesome and nutritious foods for themselves and their family. His son, Nick, graduated from college with a biology degree in May of 2014. Dr. Stuer is sure he will end up working with people to help improve their health, wellness and fitness. He is already a gifted healer even at his young age.  Dr. Stuer has a Labrador named Miya and two cats, Yum Yum and Kiki. Dr. Stuer loves being outdoors, snowshoeing in the winter and hiking in the summer. It keeps him connected to nature and grounded. The spiritual practice of meditation reminds him of the sacredness and mystery of life. And, of course, Dr. Stuer loves being around animals whenever possible to celebrate the human/animal bond. He also is a fan of regular exercise, and has made a recent commitment with a trainer to keep physically fit.
